| Big Mouth House | Who, What, When, Why, hoW Who? Big Mouth House is run by the same booklovers who run Small Beer Press: Gavin J. Grant, Kelly Link, Jedediah Berry, and a rotating cast of volunteers and interns as well as freelance proofreaders and artists. We do all our design inhouse. What? Big Mouth House is a new imprint of Small Beer Press devoted to fiction for readers of all ages. We will publish one or two weird and great titles (short story collections and novels) per year. We expect to publish books for readers aged 10 and up. When? Now! We published our first title, Joan Aiken's The Serial Garden in 2008. More, as they say, TK. TK means "to come." And it will! Why? We love books for all ages. We read them. Why not publish them? But we discovered that there might be a little problem with the name of the press—unless we changed it to Root Beer Press or something. People in the book biz who talk to a lot of people about books are known affectionately (and with awe!) as big mouths(!). So we thought maybe it would be a good name for a line of books that spoke to everyone. hoW? We take queries by mail to the address below. At the moment we are only interested in middle-reader and upwards to young adult/teen novels and perhaps collections. We tend to read slowly, six months plus is not unusual, sorry.
