White House Press Secretary
Scott McClellan today announced that President Bush has declared
war on the People's Republic of Blogistan.
"Today
we begin a new front on the war on terrorism," Bush was quoted
as saying. "Blogistan is exactly the kind of distributed landless
nation state that threatens the security and livelihood of all
Americans." Blogistan is the third front in the war on terrorism
that the US has opened up, after Afghanistan and Iraq.
Bush, who is spending two
weeks in Hilton Head on the North Carolina coast after spending
the weekend in meetings with British Prime Minister Tony Blair,
said that the USA's many allies were lining up to join the latest
"Coalition of the Willing". McClellan, however, denied being in
possession of the current list of Coalition members.
AP reports suggest bloggers
worldwide are responding by circulating a "Coalition of the UNwilling"
petition.
McClellan refused to confirm
whether hosting companies would be targeted. Troop movements have
been reported near the headquarters of Blogger,
Live Journal, Moveable
Type, and other popular weblog hosts.
McClellan also refused to
comment on whether the President would stop at Fort Bragg Army
Base later this week while on his way to meet Vice President Cheney
for a fishing trip in Boone, NC.
