YBF&H 21October 2008- The Year's Best Fantasy and Horror 2008: 21st Annual Collection [paperback][hardcover]

Green Man Review on the YBF&H

* "The 40 selections in this exemplary anthology from Link and Grant (the fantasy half) and Datlow (the horror half) reflect virtually every hue of the fantasy/horror palette. . . . The front matter's snapshot summaries of the past year's yield in fantasy, horror, comics, mixed media and music are a small and invaluable book unto themselves.
Publishers Weekly (starred review)

"A feast for both intellect and imagination. An outstanding feature of this years diverse selection of voices and themes is the often seamless overlap between the two genres."

Guidelines:

Q. What are the "Year's Best" submission guidelines?
A:
Stories and poems originally published in 2008 are eligible for consideration for Volume 22 of The Year's Best Fantasy and Horror. If your work was published in an anthology, magazine, or story collection in 2008, have your publisher send a review copy to one or both of the following addresses:

  • Fantasy material goes to Gavin Grant & Kelly Link, The Year's Best Fantasy & Horror,150 Pleasant St., #306, Easthampton, MA 01027. email: yearsbestATlcrw.net
  • Horror material goes to Ellen Datlow at: PMB 391, 511 Avenue of the Americas, New York, NY 10011-8436. (Please clearly mark the envelopes for The Year's Best Fantasy and Horror.)
  • Works on the borderline of fantasy and horror should be sent to both editors.
  • Please don't submit material published in the following magazines, since Ellen and Gavin and Kelly already receive review copies directly from the publishers: Realms of Fantasy, The Magazine of Fantasy and Science Fiction, Asimov's, Weird Tales, Lady Churchill's Rosebud Wristlet, Talebones, Tales of the Unanticipated, Aurealis, Dreams and Nightmares, The Magazine of Speculative Poetry, On-Spec, and Strange Horizons.
  • If your work has been published in a small or unusual venue that might be otherwise overlooked, then you are welcome to send a review copy to Ellen's or Gavin and Kelly's attention.
  • Please don't expect a response unless your work is selected for publication. (If you require your submission returned, please include an SASE -- but because of the volume of submissions we receive annually, we greatly prefer submissions that don't require a response.)
  • Works must be submitted by December 31, 2008. The final selection of stories will be made in January 2009.
